Barbecue Spareribs

This recipe is from a favorite fellow who use to be in our ward. His name was Wayne Winter and uou couldn't meet a nicer guy. This was one of his specialties.

Barbecue Spareribs

country style spareribs (buy this already cut into pieces without the bone, they have package at Costco)
salt and pepper
Bullseye Barbecue Sauce (or whatever your favorite is, again you might want to buy this at Costco because you use quit a bit)

Season spareribs with salt and pepper. Brown in a pan/dutch oven (I do this in batches, then put them all back in when they are all browned). Pour Barbecue sauce over the top to coat spareribs. Bake at 280 - 300 degrees for 2 hours, stirring halfway through.

Yum, these are soooooo good. It makes me want to pull out the old dutch oven and get cooking. I just hate cleaning the dutch oven afterward. Any good tips?

Don't use a dutch oven. Just use a good pan that you might cook a roast in with a good fitting lid. I don't use a dutch oven. I can never figure out the proper way of cleaning those either.

Can you put foil down in a dutch oven?

Sometimes when we are out cooking in the great outdoors, we use foil in our dutch ovens. But I am sure that is not the official way to use them (something about the seasoning of the pan). But using foil sure makes clean up a breeze. When I make this at home I just use a regular, large, heavy duty pan that I would cook a roast in. I then brown the boneless ribs in batches then put them all in and pour the BBQ sauce over the top. After you finish eating, I just soak the pan for a little bit before scrubbing. The BBQ sauce thins out a bit while the ribs are cooking so it isn't a baked on mess to clean up. You can just pour out leftover sauce, soak pan then scrub and it comes clean. Good luck!
