Sugar Cookie Time

It's that time of year. I love sugar cookies.

Does anyone have a favorite sugar cookie recipe? This is a favorite of mine. It comes originally from a dear friend, Macy, but I got it on a flyer from my sister-in-law who is a real estate agent. If you like the really soft sugar cookies, this is the recipe for you. If you want a crisp, crunchy cookie, keep looking. Hope you like it.

Macy's Sugar Cookies

6 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup butter (no wonder these are good)
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
3 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sour cream

Cream together sugar and butter, then add eggs, vanilla and sour cream. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. Slowly add to creamed mixture. It will become stiff. Roll out dough on a floured surface (it says to 1/2" thick but they puff up a little so I definitely would roll them thinner. I think it must be a typo and should be 1/4"). Cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen. These are AMAZING cookies.

Sugar Cookie Frosting

2/3 cup butter
6 cups powdered sugar
1 dash salt
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
food coloring

Combine all ingredients and have fun frosting.

A while ago my sister, Steff, put on her blog some panty cookies that she made from sugar cookie dough and a heart shaped cookie cutter. I thought they were hilarious and made them for our YW leaders for Valentine's Day. So if you want to make something funny, try these. (I couldn't find the picture Steff posted).

Yummy! I love sugar cookies. This looks like a good recipe. BTW, your Valentine's cookies turned out WAY WAY cuter than mine. Your decorating is very impressive. I like the tops too. Funny!

Actually those aren't my cookies. I was trying to find the picture your posted on your site and couldn't. So I just googled panty sugar cookies and found this one. So don't be impressed unless you are looking at my googling skills :)

That actually does make me feel better. Mine look like ka ka compared to the ones in that picture. Are the top ones yours though? I think those look pretty scrumdiddlyumptios too.

I could lie and say yes. But no. They were on the front of the real estate flier my sister in law, Kelli, sent out. But the cookies do look like that. They are very soft and yummy. So let's all pretend they are mine.

Did you notice we are the only ones who post or put recipes on here. Is it me? Do I smell? Or is my cooking that bad? I am not sure "the vision" of this blog has been catching on.

Um, I didn't want to be the one to tell you this but it IS your cooking. Your cooking is smelly. Sorry you had to find out this way.

I don't even know if you're still blogging but I was searching sugar cookie images via Google Image and saw these, adorable!!

Also LOVED the icing!! (I used my own sugar cookie recipe though, will have to test yours another time) Would it be ok if I used your Icing recipe on my cooking blog? I'll give you all the credit for the icing. Feel free to Email me your response!

Thanks from a fellow chef!
